Rooney excited at Rams opportunity
Wayne Rooney said he is excited at the prospect of beginning his coaching career with Derby County next year.
The 33-year-old was speaking after confirming that he will join the Championship side as player-coach on an initial 18-month deal starting in January.

The forward will move back to the UK after ending the season with DC United in the MLS, having scored 23 goals in 41 appearances for the Washington side.
Rooney said that he still believed he could make a big contribution, saying: "I am looking forward to joining Phillip Cocu, his coaching staff and the first-team squad from the start of January.
"I am equally excited to begin my coaching career at Derby County working with both the first team and academy."
Cocu, who replaced Frank Lampard as manager before the new season, said that it was an "exciting prospect" to work with England's record goalscorer.
"The inspiration and motivation this can generate is massive for all of our players from the first team right through to the youngsters in the academy," he added.
"To have a player with his leadership, skill, experience, character and work ethic will be huge for us."
Rooney joined DC United in the MLS season, having left Everton last summer.
He will, in January, be joining a club with Premier Leaguie ambitions, having reached the Championship play-off final last season, losing to Aston Villa at Wembley in what was to be Lampard's last game before he moved back to Chelsea as Maurizio Sarri's successor.
Derby, under Cocu, got off to a winning start in the new Championhip season, winning 2-1 away at Huddersfield Town on Monday night, two goals in three minutes from Tom Lawrence giving the Rams all three points.
Cocu's home debut as manager comes on Saturday with Derby facing Swansea. They are 21/20 to win the game with the Swans 13/5 and the draw 12/5.
Derby are 5/1 to be promoted this season with Leeds 5/6 and Cardiff 7/2.
