Nigeria manager Gernot Rohr has hinted at a cautious approach for Nigeria’s final Group C 2022 World Cup Qualifier against Cape Verde Islands on Tuesday evening.

The Super Eagles need only avoid defeat against the Blue Sharks to secure top spot on the standings and advance into the final playoff round next year.

The teams will meet at the Teslim Balogun Stadium in Lagos, with Nigeria fresh from a 2-0 away win over Liberia on Saturday, while Cape Verde beat Central African Republic 2-1 at home on the same day.

Rohr is happy that the final game has some major stakes, believing that it will inspire his players to raise their game.

“Yeah, of course, we have to make a result not to lose the final game,” Rohr said in his post-match conference following Nigeria’s win over Liberia, as quoted by Soccernet.ng.

“But we are at home. It’s good to have pressure for my players. If they believe it’s easy, if they believe it’s done, it’s always difficult.

“So it’s good to play with pressure, so we’ll be able to honour this situation to handle it like we did all the time.”

Rohr is hoping to successfully guide Nigeria to successive World Cup qualifications, having taken them to the 2018 tournament in Russia.
