Real Madrid winger Rodrygo is aiming to return from a cruciate ligament injury in mid-December, earlier than the timeframe previously indicated by his father.

The Brazil international is understood to be working towards a comeback when Real Madrid begin their Copa del Rey campaign. Diario AS reports that Rodrygo’s personal target is to be fully fit and back on the pitch by the middle of December.

His father recently said the 25-year-old would return before February next year.

Rodrygo suffered the serious injury at the beginning of March. He joined Real Madrid from Santos in 2019 and has scored 71 goals and provided 57 assists in 297 appearances for the club.

The winger will celebrate his 26th birthday at the beginning of January.

Real Madrid are second in La Liga after collecting 12 points from their opening five matches.
