Rivers United Striker to receive N3.8m for emerging NPFL Highest Goal Striker
Rivers United's striker, Chijoke Akuneto will receive Three million and eight hundred thousand naira (N3.8m) as reward for being the highest goal scorer in the just-concluded 2021/22 Nigeria Professional Football League.
The just crowned Goal King of the Nigeria Professional Football League scored 19 goals.
He equalled the goal tally achieved by Silas Nwankwo and Charles Atshimene in 2020/2021 Nigeria Professional Premier League season Nigeria top flight league.
Akuneto scored his 19th goal of the campaign from the penalty spot against Gombe United in their last match after he had been fouled on his way to goal.
The Rivers United forward will be honoured with the Eunisell Boot, which comes with a huge cash prize.
In his case, he will receive N3.8m as each goal he scored will earn him N200,000.
He beats Abdulazeez Yusuf of Gombe and Victor Mbaoma from Enyimba to the coveted goal king award.
