The struggle for topflight survival continues for Cremonese after Simone Verdi’s late equalizer canceled David Okereke’s superb effort as Hellas Verona played a 1-1 a draw against Cremonese, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.

A cross-field pass seemed to surprise Fabio Depaoli, who made a mess of the control, effectively setting up David Okereke to then shake off Giangiacomo Magnani and open the scoring eight minutes into the game.

It was the striker’s first Serie A goal since January.

Despite the Cremonese taking the lead, the away team was relentless in their effort which rubbed off with   Cremonese’s Giacomo Quagliata dismissal.

With six minutes to the end of the game, Simone Verdi volley into the ground that bounced up and into the far top corner.

While both teams tried going for the killer, Dessers threatened to restore Cremonese’s lead with a header which was kept out by Lorenzo Montipò.

The Grey and Red are 19th in the log, seven points behind Verona and Spezia who are tied on points. Cremonese will play next AC Milan at the San Siro.
