Reds win Kurz praise for Jets success
Adelaide United were hailed by coach Marco Kurz for a third away win in the A-League this season, after they saw off Newcastle Jets 2-1.
The Reds had taken just one point from their previous three games going into the clash with last season's beaten Grand Finalists, but claimed victory thanks to Craig Goodwin's injury-time penalty.
And Kurz praised his side's application after the McDonald Jones Stadium clash, with the Jets having put them under pressure for much of the game.
He said he was especially happy with the win given that they'd had to contend with two games in quick succession in stifling weather conditions.
"It's always hard to play in Newcastle and also against Newcastle because the offensive style from them is very good - maybe the best in the league," added Kurz.
"Also our break was not very big, we played four days ago. We travelled to Newcastle and also the temperatures in the last game and today as well was very hard for the boys and we're very happy, with a bit of game luck as well, we got the win."
The Reds coach singled out keeper Paul Izzo for his display, after he made a number of quality saves to keep out Ernie Merrick's team.
"Paul for us is a very important player," he said. "The saves were very important for us and from him and the whole team it was a very good performance."
United have picked up three of their four victories on the road, their only success at Coopers Stadium coming with a 2-1 victory against struggling Brisbane Roar on 30th November.
They now have back-to-back home clashes, taking on Wellington Phoenix and defending champions Melbourne Victory.
United are 5/6 to win their next game against Wellington, who are 3/1, with the draw 11/4.
