Real Madrid’s Aurelien Tchouameni returns to Cameroon for charity visit
Real Madrid midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni has used his time away from the France squad to return to Cameroon, where he visited the Manjo Children’s Home as part of his long-term charitable work.
The 26-year-old was not selected by France for this international window, during which Les Bleus are competing in the Nations League. Instead, he travelled to Manjo, in the Moungo department of the Littoral region, to continue supporting a care centre for vulnerable children.
Tchouameni spent time at the Manjo Children’s Home, an organisation with which he has developed a close relationship through his Prosperi endowment fund.
His latest visit follows a commitment that began several years ago. In December 2024, the Real Madrid player travelled to Manjo with members of his family to open a multi-sport complex funded entirely by his foundation.
The facility gives the children the opportunity to play football, basketball, tennis, handball and volleyball. During that visit, Tchouameni also handed out sports equipment and joined the residents for a game of football.
The France international has spoken about the importance of the project and the contribution sport can make to children’s development. His foundation’s involvement has extended beyond sporting facilities.
Last April, Prosperi organised a free campaign to screen children and staff at the Manjo Children’s Home for eye diseases.
Born in Rouen, Tchouameni remains closely connected to Cameroon, the country from which his parents originate. His family has particular links to Bana, in the West region, and the midfielder has made several visits there over the years.
During his trip in December 2024, he highlighted the personal significance of his relationship with the country, saying he felt “like at home” there and wanted to continue developing different projects.
The visit comes during a break from club football as Tchouameni continues his recovery after a lengthy period out of action. He was left out of the latest France squad to focus on regaining his fitness.
He will now return to Real Madrid after spending part of his break in the country of his family roots.
Tchouameni, a member of the France side that finished as 2022 World Cup runners-up, has once again combined his time away from the pitch with his ongoing work in Cameroon.
