Manchester City responded emphatically to the scandals surrounding the club by beating Liverpool 3-0 in the sixth round of the Premier League, with Rayan Cherki scoring the final goal.
Cherki’s finish completed a move involving 41 passes, making it the longest passing sequence leading to a Premier League goal since September 2023. On that occasion, Manchester City’s Phil Foden scored against Nottingham Forest after a move featuring 46 passes.
The victory means Manchester City have won all six of their Premier League matches so far this season.
