Ghana defender Rashid Sumaila has been passed fit to play for Al Qadsia at the weekend after he was replaced early in the sides’ AFC Cup draw to Istiqlol over a suspected ankle injury.

The 22-year-old was replaced after 33 minutes with complaints of pains in his ankle.

The Al Qadsia bench, not wanting to risk their influential central defender took him off as a precautionary measure.

Further tests conducted revealed there was no severe damage done to the ankle and that the Ghana defender merely needed a rest.

Sumaila has played almost every single minute of Al Qadsia’s games since making his debut back in January.

This means the on-loan Mamelodi Sundowns player will be available for selection when Al Qadsia hosts Khaitan on Sunday in the Kuwaiti top flight.
