Fulham have sacked manager Claudio Ranieri little more than 100 days since he took charge of the relegation-threatened Premier League strugglers.

First-team coach Scott Parker has been put in caretaker charge of the Cottagers, who are currently ten points adrift of safety with just ten games of the league season to play.

Claudio's tenure at Fulham didn't produce the outcome we anticipated and needed when I appointed him in November.

The final game of Ranieri's brief tenure proved to be a 2-0 defeat at Southampton on Wednesday evening, with the first assignment for Parker a home derby clash with Chelsea on Sunday.

A statement from Cottagers chairman Shahid Khan confirmed: "Following discussions this afternoon, Claudio Ranieri agreed to my decision that a change was in the best interests of everyone.

"Claudio's tenure at Fulham didn't produce the outcome we anticipated and needed when I appointed him in November.

"Claudio walked into a difficult situation, inheriting a side that gained only one point in its previous eight matches and he provided an immediate boost by leading our club to nine points in his first eight matches, though we were unable to maintain that pace thereafter."

Ranieri started and ended his reign against Southampton, with Fulham seeing off the Saints 3-2 at Craven Cottage in late November, but they could only muster two more win in their next 15 league games.

They also crashed out of the FA Cup at the hands of League Two Oldham Athletic to compound their woes.

Fulham can be backed at 3/1 to earn a draw against Chelsea on Sunday, while the visitors are 1/2 to win the game and 7/1 to do so by a 2-0 scoreline.
