Rangers will wait until summer before deciding on Badredine Bouanani
Rangers will not decide whether to activate the £15.5m purchase option for Badredine Bouanani until the end of the season, according to information from Ekrem Konur.
The winger joined the Scottish club on loan and is now set for several months of uncertainty over his future. The option to buy him, worth about €18m, will remain untouched during the January transfer window.
The decision reflects Rangers’ desire to avoid committing to a significant fee before they have seen enough of the player. The club is under no obligation to act immediately and would rather assess the situation fully than approve a payment of close to €20m based on a promising start to the campaign.
Rangers want a longer assessment
The size of the proposed deal means the Scottish club cannot afford to make a mistake. Rather than allowing early performances to dictate the outcome, Rangers want to judge Bouanani over a longer period before reaching a conclusion.
A few impressive appearances will not be considered sufficient evidence. The club will examine the winger’s consistency, his influence in important matches and how successfully he adapts to a Scottish league described as unlike any other.
That leaves Bouanani with the rest of the season to strengthen his case. His performances will now play the central role in determining whether he remains in Scotland or returns from his loan spell.
Every match will provide another opportunity for him to convince Rangers that the permanent transfer represents the right decision.
No January decision
Rangers’ timetable is now clear: there will be no decision during the winter market. The club will wait until the campaign has ended before reviewing the situation and deciding whether to make the move permanent.
The summer will therefore determine whether Bouanani continues his career in Scotland or goes back to the club from which he arrived. Until then, Rangers will retain control of the process and keep all possibilities open.
The winger’s next opportunity comes when Glasgow Rangers face Johnstone in their 10th Scottish league matchday. Ahead of the fixture, 1xbet lists Rangers at 1.14 to win, with the draw priced at 5.30 and a Johnstone victory at 9.50.
