Heartland head coach Ramson Madu has said that his side were not troubled by the Nigeria National League (NNL) opponents, Unicem Rovers.

The Naze Millionaires beat the Calabar outfit 1-0 in Sunday’s NNL matchday 11 clash at the Dan Anyiam Stadium in Owerri.

A late penalty in the 81st minute converted by midfielder, Odera Onyiri proved adequate to hand the NNL campaigners the three points at stake.

Madu said the Calabar-based side played a frustrating type of football throughout the encounter, aimed at keeping the score-line even.

“Everybody is quite happy with the hard fought win against Unicem Rovers as well as the three points in our kitty.

“My wards played very well to instruction only that the goal refused to come till deep into the second half.

“Unicem Rovers came into the match with a mind-set to achieve a draw as their goalkeeper feigned injuries at will including some players, too.

“It was really frustrating for my wards, and that must have accounted for the slim goal margin, as we found it too challenging to cope.

“The Calabar side did not come out to play, which would have opened the game for both sides to showcase their skills.

“However, we are happy as the players have continued to show uncommon improvement with each match.

“I just pray things keep looking good as it is especially now we have assumed the leadership of the group. We want to keep it right there at the top till the end of the season.

“Of course, we know the challenge will be stiffer right now. I believe with hard work we will be able to sustain the momentum,” said Madu to supersport.com.

The win against Unicem Rovers takes Heartland's total earning to 23 from a possible 33 in the 11-week old NNL southern conference.
