Former Asante Kotoko defender Rahim Ayew says the best thing that could have happened to his younger brother Andre Ayew is his move to Swansea.

Ayew, 25, completed a four year deal with Swansea city putting to bed his future after months of speculations regarding where he would eventually settle.

The move to Wales is viewed by many as a step down particularly when giants like AS Roma and Liverpool had confirmed interested in snapping up the 2009 FIFA U20 world cup winner.

But Rahim says Swansea will afford his brother the platform for greater things ahead.

“Swansea showed more interest and gave him all he demanded for. Which for him was very key,” Rahim told Citi FM

“They are a strong English side and play the kind of football that will suit him.

“It’s the best move for him at the moment and we will all have to throw our weight behind him.”
