"?Fresh from a thumping 6-0 win over Preston in the EFL Cup competition yesterday, Rafa Benitez could be dreaming of a trio to Wembley, but instead has revealed his main priority is focusing on winning promotion with the team.

Speaking after the game, the Spaniard admitted as per "?Sky Sports: "I have to concentrate just on Preston on Saturday, wait and see what happens in the draw and after, maybe I can answer those questions."

The Magpies once again face Preston at the weekend, and will be hoping another win is on the cards to further their grip on the top spot of the Championship.

Their impressive win on Tuesday was the sides fourth game without conceding. Doubles from Mitrovic and Diamé, as well as strikes from Ritchie and Pérez ensured that they sailed to the quarter finals of "?the EFL Cup.

Though Benitez is chasing promotion, fans will be hoping that the side can reach Wembley and win the trophy, ending their long draught without a winning medal.

Not only have they enjoyed a fine run of form as of late, but they are also attracting huge crowds to their matches, with fans buying into the philosophy of the former Liverpool manager.

Almost 50,000 fans crammed into St James' Park, their second highest attendance for the competition.

Rafa Benitez won 16 of his 27 games in charge of #Newcastle. They'd won 16 of previous 63 before his arrival. #NUFC embrace the #Rafalution!

Newcastle are one of the in-form sides in the Championship under the Spaniard. They currently sit top of the table, three points ahead of closest rivals Brighton.
