Cristiano Ronaldo will wear his preferred No. 7 jersey at Manchester United after Edinson Cavani chose No. 21, the number he wears with distinction for Uruguay, over No. 7.
Ronaldo, 36, took up the No. 7 shirt from David Beckham in 2003 and wore it for six seasons at Manchester United before going on to further establish his CR7 brand with Real Madrid, Juventus, and while representing Portugal.
George Best, Bryan Robson, Eric Cantona, and David Beckham are just a few of the United legends that have worn the number 7. Michael Owen, Antonio Valencia, Angel Di Maria, Memphis Depay, Alexis Sanchez, and Cavani were among the players that wore the figure during Ronaldo's 11-year absence.
"I wasn't sure if it would be possible to have the No. 7 shirt again, so I would like to say a huge thank you to Edi for this incredible gesture," Ronaldo said.
