Manchester City head coach Pep Guardiola admits he is desperate to try and lead his club to their first-ever triumph in the Champions League.

Guardiola enjoyed two Champions League successes during his time in charge of Barcelona, in 2009 and 2011, but has so far been unable to guide the Citizens to European glory.

I would give everything to win a Champions League (with City),

Pep Guardiola

Last season they fell to domestic rival Tottenham Hotspur in the quarter-finals, with Spurs going on to lose to another Premier League outfit, Liverpool, in the final in Madrid.

Guardiola told Gol.TV: "I would give everything to win a Champions League (with City), but there are some very difficult games where you depend on minor factors.

"Each time you get into the Champions League you say to yourself 'how beautiful it will be' and when you're eliminated you say 'what rotten luck not to be able to continue to enjoy it'.

"Of course I'm jealous of Liverpool and Tottenham and I would have loved to have been there, but they deserved it."

However, Guardiola was also keen to point out that domestic league success will always be his top priority, with City hoping to make it three Premier League titles in a row next season.

He added on Diario Ara. "That's why when they tell me 'but he has not won the Champions League', I answer that I would like the Champions League, but the league is what makes the players follow you."

City are priced at 4/6 to retain their domestic crown next season, while they can be backed at 4/1 to win the Champions League for the first time in their history.
