Nigeria forward, Paul Onuachu tasted defeat on his first day in the English Premier League as a Southampton player on Saturday, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.

The lanky striker was a substitute at the break at two goals to nil against his side, but couldn't help as they ended up losing by three goals to nil to Brentford.

He and fellow African, Ghana's Kamaldeen Sulemana were brought in and gave the team some spark up front, but it was not to be on the day as goals from Ben Mee, Bryan Mbeumo and Mathias Jensen sealed the win for Brentford that are now nine matches unbeaten in the league.

Onuachu joined the the Saints on transfer deadline day from Belgium club, KRC Genk for €18 million in a three year deal and will hope to make huge impact in the next game against Wolves on Saturday.

Southampton sit bottom of the twenty team league after 21 matches.
