Patrick Vieira names Nicolas Jackson in Senegal starting XI for Mozambique qualifier

Senegal begin their 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying campaign against Mozambique at 13:00 GMT, with Nicolas Jackson leading the attack in Patrick Vieira’s first match in charge.

The Lions of Teranga face a difficult opening assignment in Maputo, a venue regarded as particularly challenging for visiting teams. Vieira’s side will be expected to negotiate the away fixture successfully as the new manager takes charge of Senegal for the first time.

Moussa Niakhate captains the team from defence, while Jackson is supported in attack by Abdallah Sima and Assane Diao.
