Patrick Vieira backs Senegal to meet Mozambique test in first CAN 2027 qualifier

Patrick Vieira will take charge of Senegal for the first time in a competitive match when the Lions of the Teranga face Mozambique in the opening round of the CAN 2027 qualifiers.

The former France midfielder said he was encouraged by the attitude and commitment shown by his players during preparations for the fixture.

Vieira believes Senegal have used the build-up effectively and will be ready for the challenge posed by Mozambique, despite expecting a demanding contest.

“We expect a difficult match. But from what I have seen, particularly the pleasure the players have taken in coming together, their concentration and the attention they have paid to detail, I have no doubt that, in terms of mindset and physically and tactically, we will be ready to face a good Mozambique team,” said Vieira.
