Paris Brunner’s fast start puts Monaco in line for major future profit

Paris Brunner has emerged as one of the early stars of the 2026/27 season at AS Monaco, with his goalscoring form already raising the prospect of a significant future transfer profit for the club.

The 20-year-old German-Congolese forward scored his fourth Ligue 1 goal in five matches on Friday, helping Monaco beat Racing Club de Lens 2-1 at Louis-II. His total stands at six goals in seven appearances in all competitions, including a brace against Gornik Zabrze in the Conference League play-offs.

Brunner’s rise is particularly striking given his limited role last season. He made only one league start and later saw the end of his campaign disrupted by a hamstring injury. The appointment of Filipe Luis as Monaco manager has since transformed his prospects.

The former Cercle Bruges player has started every match for Monaco since the beginning of the new season. Playing alongside summer signing Matthis Abline, he has moved ahead in the attacking pecking order, with Folarin Balogun among those now on the bench.

There are three developments behind the growing belief that Brunner’s value could increase sharply.

A rapid statistical rise

Four goals in five Ligue 1 games have placed Brunner among the leading scorers in the division and rewarded the confidence shown in him by Filipe Luis.

Sustaining that level over the coming weeks would inevitably attract greater attention from scouts across Europe. Brunner combines youth with the ability to operate in different attacking roles, while his potential for further improvement remains considerable.

Those qualities are highly valued in the transfer market and could drive his price upwards if his current run continues.

A modest initial investment

Monaco signed Brunner in the summer of 2024 for about 4 million euros, making his current development especially encouraging from a financial perspective.

His estimated market value remains relatively low. Transfermarkt puts it at 1.5 million euros, while FotMob gives a figure of 2.4 million. Both valuations may already appear out of step with his current form, although the full effect of this season on his market value will only become clear later.

Brunner is under contract with Monaco until June 2028, leaving the club in a strong negotiating position should interest develop. Continued progress could therefore produce a substantial increase on the initial outlay.

Germany opportunity

Brunner has also received his first call-up to the Germany Under-21 squad. He is due to feature in upcoming European Under-21 Championship qualifying matches against Latvia, Malta and Georgia.

A sustained place at Under-21 level, followed eventually by a senior Germany debut, would increase both his exposure and his value. Brunner already has considerable experience with Germany’s youth teams, and progressing towards the senior side could make him even more attractive to leading European clubs.

It is too early to discuss a transfer worth tens of millions of euros. However, with a strong start, an established place in Monaco’s team and almost two years remaining on his contract, Brunner’s trajectory gives the club genuine reason to believe it may have found its next major sale.
