Paris beat Strasbourg to climb second in French Ligue 1

Paris moved up to second place in the French championship after a 2-1 victory over Strasbourg in the fifth round.

The hosts made the breakthrough in the 18th minute when Ilan Kebbal found the net. Paris held on to their narrow advantage through to half-time.

Paris continued to control the match after the interval and doubled their lead in the 57th minute. Pablo Pagis scored the second goal.

Strasbourg pulled one back late on when Mamadou Mbou put the ball into his own net, but Paris held out to secure all three points.

The result takes Paris to 11 points, while Strasbourg remain sixth on seven points.
