Nigerian midfielder, Halimat Ayinde has been forced to withdraw from the 2024 Olympic Games due to a knee injury sustained in training, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.

The 29-year-old was named in the Super Falcons' squad for the Olympics by head coach Randy Waldrum just last Wednesday, but her injury has dashed her hopes of participating in the tournament.

This unfortunate incident was confirmed by her the Rosengard player on Thursday.

Halimatu announced the news on social media, stating: "With a heavy heart, I announce I won't be part of the Super Falcons for the Olympics. I’m deeply grateful to FC Rosengård and my teammates for their support and love. Best of luck to my fellow Super Falcons. I’ll be cheering for you and will return stronger. Go Superfalcons!!”
