Super Eagles coach, Éric Chelle has addressed the controversy surrounding Victor Osimhen's substitution during Nigeria's 2-1 win over Tanzania in the AFCON 2025 opener, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.

Osimhen was replaced by Ademola Lookman in the 86th minute, sparking a visibly unhappy reaction from the Galatasaray striker.

When questioned about the incident, Chelle revealed he had spoken to Osimhen but kept the details private.

"We talked and it will stay between him and me," Chelle said.

"If you want more information, you've to tell Osimhen to ask me."

Semi Ajayi and Ademola Lookman scored Nigeria's goals, securing a crucial win in Group C.

Osimhen, who has 21 goals in 37 caps, was largely quiet in the match, with Lookman grabbing the winner in added time.
