Nigeria striker Victor Osimhen has disclosed that he sought advice from his former Napoli teammate Dries Mertens before completing a loan move to Galatasaray, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.

Osimhen, who arrived in Istanbul on Tuesday, was greeted by a enthusiastic reception at the airport, with fans chanting his name in the arrivals area.

The 25-year-old, who has joined the Turkish Super Lig champions on a season-long loan, revealed that he consulted Mertens, who made the same move last summer, before making his decision.

"The atmosphere is incredible. It's great to be here and to see Mertens again. I spoke to him before coming here," Osimhen said, via Corriere dello Sport.

Mertens and Osimhen previously played together at Napoli, and the Belgian's influence appears to have played a significant role in the Nigerian's decision to join Galatasaray.

The duo will now reunite in Istanbul, with Osimhen eager to get started.
