Orebonye double gives Botswana surprise advantage over Libya

Botswana have taken a 2-0 half-time lead against Libya in the opening round of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

The Zebras exposed weaknesses in Libya’s defence at the Tripoli International Stadium, with Tumisang Orebonye scoring both goals.

The striker opened the scoring in the 30th minute before adding a second shortly before the referee’s half-time whistle.

Libya, known as the Mediterranean Knights, now face a difficult task in front of their home supporters. They will need a significantly improved performance after the break if they are to close the gap and get back into the match.
