Senegal coach Alian Giresse says his defence is as good as his attack ahead of his opening 2015 AFCON game against Ghana on Monday.

The Lions of Terranga could boats of a powerful attack with the likes of Pappise Cisse, Mame Biram Diouf and Moussa Sow all included in their squad.

Giresse even had the luxury of dropping Besiktas forward Demba Ba for the finals.

The French trainer however says his defence is as strong as his attack after conceding just one goal in the entire qualifiers.

“People talk a lot about our attack, but during the qualifiers we only conceded one goal,” he said.

“It shows that our defensive system worked well.

“We rely on players who are in great clubs. We need to have a solid base and we also have an extensive attacking force.”

Senegal will open their 2015 AFCON campaign against Ghana on Monday in Mongomo.
