Opinion: NFF Election: It's time for "unusual faces" to get involved
For years there have been complains of having the same circle of people run the affairs of football in Nigeria and how these persons have continued to reshuffle the administration of the game around themselves.
Wether there have been tremendous growth in having these same set of people at the helm of affairs is entirely another subject of discussion for another.
Nevertheless, many persons still think a lot can be done in so many areas of the country's football.
But the question that comes to mind is "how long will the lament continue?" Will football stakeholders just complain? What can these laments solve? What can be done?
The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) elections are around the corner and if there is any time to stop the bickering and hullabaloo and get into action it is now.
Action in the form of getting involved in the scheme of things, getting involved in the political process that brings these people to the privileged position of calling the shot in the football activities of the country.
A new face so to say picked his nomination form to vie for one of position as as an executive member (South West). His name Deji Adegbenro
Adegbenro, a journalist and sport administrator has been around football in the country, but he is not your regular in the politics of Nigeria football.
More persons like him are expected to be involved in the process.
The need to have a better representation in the Glass House and to nip the problems of Nigeria football in the bud cannot be done with mere talks and complains.
It's time football enthusiasts, journalists, administrators and experts joined the race to effect the desired change.
With people with new and fresh ideas taking up positions in the federation, the chances of creating that change becomes more feasible.
No one sits and watches his or her house on fire, action must be taken to quench the fire.
Of course, having a "new face" as president or vice president or secretary immediately may be far fetched, but getting involved in whatever little capacity can gradually change the narrative.
The talks, shouts, calling outs, lamentations and arguments should be translated into action now.
