Ologunloluwa visits Benin city, charges Sunshine stars players to move past horrible attack
Ondo state commissioner for youth development and sports Hon. Bamidele Ologunloluwa has paid a visit to Sunshine stars crew in Benin city, Edo state as gathered by Nigeriasoccernet.com.
Ologun accompanied by the club's general manager Prince Tunde Ogunja met with players and officials of the team following a horrible attack on the team enroute Benin city.
He expressed displeasure on the unfortunate incident, describing it as very disheartening and condemnable.
Ologunloluwa said the state government led by governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu in conjunction with club management is presently evaluating the security system to forestall future recurrence.
"I am here because we're deeply concerned and touched by what happened happened yesterday. We will do everything possible to prevent a reoccurrence, the welfare and safety of everyone remains our top priority".
The club's general manager Mr Tunde Ogunja in his address reiterated management's commitment to the club's wellbeing and development at all times as he encouraged the team to defeat all obstacles ahead of the game with Bendel Insurance.
Responding on behalf of the players, team captain, Abe Sunday appreciated the management for prompt support and encouragement.
He noted that the players will recover from the mental stress and ready to put up their best against Bendel Insurance in match Day13 of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL).
The management donated five hundred thousand and individual cash award to boost the team's morale ahead of the crucial encounter.
Earlier the management team was at the intensive care unit of the University of Benin Teaching Hospital to sympathies with one of the victims who sustained serious gun shot injury.
Sunshine Stars team bus was attacked on Thursday by suspected kidnappers enroute Ore-Benin expressway on their way to honour NPFL match day 13 tie against Bendel Insurance.
Other management staff present are the team coordinator, Tokunbo Akinyelure, Team manager, Seun Betiku, Coach Edit Agoye, Assistant coach; Akin Olowokere.
Others are Assistant Media Officer Femi Bada and Welfare officer, Raymond Abdusalam.
