Oliseh drops Chelsea midfielder Mikel Obi for
Nigeria coach Sunday Oliseh has sensationally dropped Chelsea star Mikel Obi, preferring to start Sunshine Stars ace Paul Onobi, for today’s World Cup qualifier against Swaziland.
Onobi has been outstanding for the country’s home-based team who recently qualified for the CHAN in Rwanda next year.
He is expected to bring his creativity to a midfield which was short of that in Lobambo on Friday in a disappointing goalless draw.
The other changes from the starting XI in Swaziland are at left back where Chima Akas from Sharks in the local league has been picked ahead of Elderson Echiejile from AS Monaco and Abia Warriors central defender Austin Oboroakpo comes in from Turkey-based Godfrey Oboabona.
Nigeria starting XI vs Swaziland
Carl Ikeme – Shehu Abdulahi, Chima Akas, Austin Oboroakpo, Efe Ambrose – Ogenyi Onazi, Paul Onobi, Sylvester Igbonu – Moses Simon, Odion Ighalo, Ahmed Musa (Skipper)
