Okoye Laments Late Equaliser in Udinese’s Six-Goal Thriller with Lazio
Maduka Okoye has expressed disappointment following Udinese Calcio’s dramatic 3-3 draw against S.S. Lazio at the Stadio Olimpico, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.
Udinese made a strong start, taking the lead in the 18th minute through Kingsley Ehizibue, who fired a stunning effort into the roof of the net from a tight angle.
Lazio responded early in the second half, with Luca Pellegrini equalising five minutes after the restart. Pedro then put the hosts ahead late on, before Arthur Atta restored parity for Udinese in the 86th minute.
Atta appeared to have secured victory for the visitors with a stoppage-time goal, but Daniel Maldini struck two minutes later to ensure the points were shared.
Reacting after the game, Okoye admitted the result felt like a missed opportunity despite the positive result away from home.
“Now the feeling is more of a two-point drop, but tomorrow we’ll realize we’ve earned an important point away to Lazio, which isn’t easy. We’re disappointed now, but we have to move forward,” he said.
The goalkeeper also reflected on the nature of the contest, describing it as entertaining but frustrating.
“This is football; we were both behind and ahead, and it’s a shame about the goal conceded at the end. It was a good match for the spectators. In the coming days, we’ll see where we need to improve.”
