Official: Jordan Torunarigha completes Hamburger SV switch
Jordan Torunarigha has today completed the switch to newly promoted Bundesliga outfit Hamburger SV following the expiration of his contract with Jupiler Pro League side KAA Gent on a three-year deal, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.
A native of Berlin, Torunarigha, who developed through the youth system at Hertha BSC and made his Bundesliga debut with the club, often referred to as the ‘Old Lady’ completed his medical examination at the UKE Athleticum before finalizing his move by signing a contract at the Volksparkstadion.
During his three and a half seasons with Gent, Torunarigha amassed 145 appearances in both domestic competitions and European tournaments. Before his time in Belgium, he played 73 matches in the Bundesliga for Hertha BSC.

“Jordan became a key player and top performer during his time in Gent. We’ve been following his progress both on and off the pitch and are now pleased that he’s chosen to take the next step in his career with HSV", HSV director of football Claus Costa stated.
HSV board member for sport Stefan Kuntz who previously coached the centre-back for both Germany U21s and the Olympics side also had his say: “Jordan is a clear-headed, professional and mature character, he has taken another significant step forward in terms of his development, characterised by heading and tackling prowess, which combine well with his good turn of pace. Jordan matches our profile of requirements thanks to his all-around defensive capabilities and ability to play out from the back.”
Comfortable on the ball and extremely physical and agile, the centre-back, who has played almost 300 professional games and won 30 caps for Germany’s youth teams, as well as one cap for Nigeria’s senior side, is set to take on an important role at HSV.
