In a tweet on the club's official Twitter account, Club America announced that Paraguayan forward Sergio Diaz will not be returning to the club for this upcoming tournament. 

Diaz, who was on loan to America from Real Madrid Castilla, was not able to convince skipper Santiago Solari, who only employed the guarani in six games during the Guard1anes 2021 with Las Aguilas. The forward is widely considered as one of Paraguay's bright young talents, but he wasn't able to display it in Liga MX, after having played for Cerro Porteno, Corinthians and Real Madrid Castilla, where he will now return to see what the future holds for the 23-year-old striker.
