In a tweet on their official account, Necaxa announced that they have signed Mexican centre-back Luis Quintana for the Apertura 2021.

The former Pumas player joins on a free transfer, after the Mexico City side made it known last week that he would no longer continue with the club. He now joins Necaxa with the possibility of earning a starting spot, something he was not able to do while at Pumas in the last few years, even though he had been with the club for 15 years and was once the captain of the universitarios. At 29 years of age, Quintana decided it was time to try a new experience outside of Pumas, and it was not long after his release that Necaxa came knocking.
