Nwosu Declares Nigeria Football Needs Dangote
One of the major problems inhibiting the development Nigerian football is paucity of funds.
The NFF has failed to meet several financial obligations to players and coaches of the national teams and recently, players of the Super Falcons staged a sit in protest in their hotel, in Abuja after their triumph at the Africa Women Cup of Nations tournament.
Former Nigeria international, Henry Nwosu believes the solution to the frequent poor state of finances of the NFF.
He said the football house must, without further delay, reorganise its marketing department in order to attract Nigerian moneybags like the chairman of the Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote.
Dangote “If Aliko Dangote is interested to consider buying majority shares in English Premier League club, Arsenal FC, then he can be convinced to invest a fraction of his wealth in Nigeria football,” Nwosu reasoned.
He blamed the leadership of the NFF for the frequent lack of funds among other things as a factor behind the slow progress this year, but Nwosu insisted that talking to the right people can help them address their financial shortcomings.
Nwosu called on the FA to look beyond the Government for funding after what has been described a difficult 2016.
He advised the FA to review their marketing strategy and cut their dependency on government, especially with the prevailing economic situation in the country.
