NWFL: Robo Queens stand tall in Lagos Derby
Lagos Landladies, Robo Queens maintained their impressive start to the Nigeria Women’s Football League (NWFL) Premiership season with a commanding victory over city rivals Dannaz Ladies on Wednesday evening, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.
A dominant display at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena saw the Robo Queens record a 5-1, securing their fourth consecutive victory of the campaign and strengthening their grip at the top of group B.
Robo Ladies wasted no time asserting their authority as Kemi Adegbuyi opened the scoring barely a minute into the encounter. The early pressure continued, and Tosin Rafiu doubled the advantage in the 9th minute, putting the hosts firmly in control.
Dannaz Ladies briefly found hope when Augusta Chukwuma pulled one back in the 19th minute. However, any momentum gained was quickly halted as Opeyemi Ajakaiye capitalised on a defensive mix-up to restore Robo’s two-goal cushion in the 26th minute.
The second half followed a similar pattern, with Robo Queens dictating play. Ajakaiye struck again in the 63rd minute to claim her brace and make it 4–1, effectively putting the contest beyond Dannaz Ladies’ reach.
Substitute Rodiat Yusuf rounded off the emphatic performance with a late goal, adding gloss to the scoreline and sealing a comprehensive derby triumph.
The result keeps the Robo Queens firmly top of Group B, underlining their title credentials and sending a strong message to their rivals as the NWFL season gathers momentum.
