Pelican Stars continued their winning streak in the 2024/25 NWFL Championship which is currently going on at Calabar securing a dramatic 2-1 victory over First Mahi Babes, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.

First Mahi Babes opened the scoring in the first half through a well-executed goal by Iorliam Wilfred. However, Pelican Stars responded with a controversial penalty in the second half, leading to a brief stoppage of play as First Mahi Babes protested the decision.

After returning to the pitch, First Mahi Babes missed two penalty kicks before conceding another penalty, which was converted by Pelican Stars captain Perpetual to level the score. Pelican Stars then took the lead with a corner kick goal from substitute Faith Okon.

Despite First Mahi Babes' efforts, the score remained 2-1, giving Pelican Stars their third consecutive win in the tournament.

In other news, Unification FC bounced back from a previous loss with a 1-1 draw against Chosen Generation at the St. Patrick field.
