Abia Angles got to a fine start in their Nigeria Women's Football League Premiership campaign with a slim victory over FC Robo of Lagos.

 

The Eastern based team won by a goal courtesy of a first half goal from the boot's of Nkechi Agams at the Enyimba International Stadium, Aba on Wednesday.

 

Ndudim Amarachi's cross had been mishandled by Bukola and Agams poked home the ball in the 24th minute of the game.

 

Agams' goal became the first goal in the 2022/2023 Nigeria Women's Football League Premiership season.

 

The Lagos base team did push for an equaliser, but the home team put up good play to put Robo at bay.

 

The second half started with end to end play as the two sides kept each other on check with goal scoring chances, but the remained the same.

 

At the end, Abia Angles got the win to kick start their season in the group B division of the league.
