Abia Angels FC recorded their third win of the Nigeria Women Football League season after defeating Naija Ratels by a goal to nil on Thursday, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.

The Abia State side won courtesy of a first half goal by Chiamaka Ojialor at the Enyimba International Stadium in the last match before the Christmas break.

The host started the game the brighter side as Ratels' Faith Omilana was called to action by Angel's Ndudim Amarachi's long range effort in the 4th minute.

Omilana made double saves in 2 minutes after efforts from Nwauke Nkiru and Ojialor

The visitors came close to scoring in the 14th minute as Saliu Grace's shot was saved by Mercy Vincent.

The Ratels seemed to gain momentum trying to score, but the hosts' defense stood strong.

In the 40th minute, Ojialor finally broke the deadlock. Ifeanyi Kindness set up Ojialor to eventually fire past Omilana as the first half ended 1-0.

Ratels started with the impetus to score as Tsebee Rita came close to the equaliser, but Mercy Vincent was on ground to rebuff the effort.

Ojialor with the opportunity to extend the lead, but her header went wide in the 63rd minute.

Bankole Sofiat also pushed for an equaliser, but to no avail as the Naija Ratels could not bring Angels defense ending the tie 1-0.

Abia Angels now have 10 points after 6 matches and sit 4th on the group A log of the NWFL while Naija Ratels are 7th with 5 points.
