It is still very early in the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) season, not even a third of the games have been played but every fan would rather his or her team was top of the log than anywhere else.

Abia Warriors coach Kennedy Boboye said his side never saw an unbeaten run coming but while they are at it, they are thoroughly enjoying themselves. Many believed that their run would be ended at the Nest of Champions in midweek but they served all the humble pie, inflicting a first league defeat of the season on the Promise Keepers at their Nest of Champions.

Perhaps they have drawn more home games than they would have liked at this stage of the season but they have made it up with two away wins, the most in the championship. Lobi Stars are the next visitors, two points and five places underneath Warriors.

The Makurdi side presents a potential banana skin especially with Anthony Okpotu scoring goals for fun nowadays.
