Enyimba FC got a second consecutive win as they defeated Kwara United in the Nigeria Premier Football League match day 14 fixture on Sunday, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.

The 8-time champions of the league triumphed over the Afonja Warriors with a 1-2 win at the Akure Township Stadium.

After an end to end affair by both sides, a goal came in the 29th minute from the Visitors as Chijoke Mbaoma tapped in Imo Obot's cutback to make it 1-0.

The Host replied quickly through former Enyimba FC player, Samad Kadiri who converted the penalty kick to equal score at 1-1 in the 35th minute.

The first half ended 1-1 as the two teams sought to edge each other as Ayobami Junior was replaced by Ahmed Taofek prior to the end of the half for Kwara United.

Enyimba FC made their own change at the start of the second half as Ekene Awazie came in for Sadiq Abubakar a minutes into the half.

The two players brought live to game as Awazie attempted a volley, but it goes wide three minutes after coming on.

Ayobami on the other hand tried to control the tempo for the Hosts, but Enyimba still maintained the edge.

And in the 78th minute, the goal came. Mbaoma capitalised on the errors of the United defense to score his second of the day and restore Enyimba's lead.

Eriugo almost gave gave Enyimba the respite in the 81st minute after putting the ball pass the goalkeeper, Ayenugba, but it was ruled for offside.

Enyimba held on for a crucial win that takes them second on the league group A log, a point ahead of Akwa United with 24 points.
