NPFL'23: Abia Warriors compound Dakkada's woes
Abia Warriors defeated Dakkada to record their highest win in the 2022/2023 Nigeria Premier Football League season on Sunday, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.
Sunday Megwo and Bello Lukman’s brace condemned the Chosens to their tenth defeat of the season as Abia Warriors win 3-0 at the Umuahia Township Stadium.
The hosts started quicky to score in the first two minutes through Sunday Megwo who stabbed in Daniel Ijeh delivery to give the team an early lead.
After the first half ended 1-0, Bello Lukman Idowu doubled the home team's lead with a tap in from a Phillip Adejoh assist in the 83rd minute.
Idowu scored his second and the Umuahia side's third after connecting to Nweke Kalu's assist to end the tie 3-0.
The result means the Uyo based club have been relegated, becoming the first team to be relegated this season while Abia Warriors have given life to their hope of a Super Six qualification as they remain third with 24 points, five points adrift of leaders, Lobi Stars.
