The Nigeria Premier Football League has announced that date for the commencement of the Youth League will be on Thursday, 1st February, 2024 on Monday, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.

Youth teams will arrive various centres from tomorrow, 30th January for zonal qualifiers while screening exercises will begin on Wednesday for proper documentation of players.

For the qualifiers, the 20 clubs have been zoned to 5 centres of the tournament for the preliminary qualifying matches.

The centres are: Enugu State for the South-East zone, Lafia for clubs in North Central, Kaduna will host clubs from the Northwest and Northeast, Ekiti is the centre for Southwest clubs while Port Harcourt for South South clubs.

Chairman of the NPFL Youth League Committee, Pastor Emeka Inyama spoke on the readiness of the board for the commencement of the league.

“We want to get it right at building a stronger NPFL through setting up a proper Youth League culture which is the future of elite leagues all over the world”.

“I can tell you that we are all set for the start of the Youth League season and are looking forward to a very healthy competition.

“It must be reiterated that participation is compulsory for all 20 NPFL Clubs as there would serious consequences for any club that fails to be part of this”, Inyama emphasised.
