NPFL Warns Clubs Over Post-Match Press Conferences, Threatens Sanctions
The Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) has issued a strong warning to club media officers, emphasizing that failure to organize post-match press conferences will result in sanctions, gathered Nigeriasoccernet.com.
This directive was outlined in a letter sent to all 20 NPFL club managers and chairmen, dated March 20, 2025, and signed by the league’s Chief Operating Officer, Davidson Owumi.
The letter reiterated that clubs had already received pre-season training on media responsibilities, which include ensuring that post-match press conferences are held with both team managers and captains, or any other player requested by the media.
“We have observed that this requirement is being breached, thereby denying the NPFL necessary media content. Going forward, clubs must ensure post-match press conferences are held in a conducive and organized manner, preferably inside NPFL-branded media rooms,” the letter stated.
It further reminded clubs that a standard media room is a mandatory requirement under Club Licensing Regulations, and any club officer failing to comply will face appropriate sanctions.
NPFL Standings with Nine Games Remaining
As the 2024/25 NPFL season enters its final stretch, Remo Stars currently lead the table with 57 points, followed by Rivers United (49 points) and Rangers International (45 points).
At the bottom of the table, Sunshine Stars (33 points), Akwa United (31 points), and Lobi Stars (23 points) are battling to avoid relegation.
