The Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) is set to introduce modern communication gadgets for referees from the 2024/25 season, according to NPFL chairman, Gbenga Elegbeleye, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.

In an interview with the media, Elegbeleye acknowledged that the league is still in its development stages, saying, "There is no perfect league anywhere in the world, and we are still going through the development stages."

However, he revealed that efforts are being made to improve the league, particularly in the area of refereeing.

"By next season, we are going to introduce some gadgets for referees," he announced.

Elegbeleye also highlighted the league's focus on strengthening youth programs across NPFL clubs.

"We are also going to improve on the youth program because we made sure all the clubs registered all their feeders' teams as part of the club licensing last season," he explained.

The new season is set to kick off on August 31, 2024, with Rangers defending their title after winning the 2023/24 season.
