Two first half goals on Monday at the Lekan Salami Stadium, Ibadan, gave Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) a 2-0 victory over Enyimba in a matchday 25 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) fixture.

The Oluyole Warriors who lost their last game at away 1-3 to Katsina United rose to the occasion as they dominated the better part of the proceedings in the first half.

Omoduemuke Moses put Edith Agoye’s side ahead in the 13th minute, while Emmanuel Lucky, who netted a brace during the last home game against Lobi Stars made 2-0 in the 40th minute.

The Peoples’ Elephant made incursions into the 3SC dangerous area but their effort was foiled by the brilliance of goalkeeper Detan Ogundare amid a superb defence.

However, Enyimba came back in the second half stronger as they seized control of the game in a bid to at least reduce the deficit, but the homers defence was able to curtail them.

Speaking after the match, Agoye lauded his wards for a good performance, as he promised that the best of the team is yet to come.

He thanked fans for their total support in achieving victory against hard fighting Enyimba.

“I must commend the efforts of my players, they fought for the result and you all can attest to it on the field of play.

“They raised their game as you can all see and I must say they even surprised me. Our fans should expect a better outing against Sunshine Stars this weekend in Akure,” Agoye told Sportingtribune.
