The Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) has announced a change in the schedule for week one matches of the 2024/2025 season, according to a circular sent to clubs, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.

The circular signed by the league’s Chief Operating Officer, Davison Owumi revealed  the match day one  fixtures were moved to avoid a clash with the Super Eagles' matchday on Saturday.

As a result, all week one matches will now take place on 8 September, except for the encounter between Lobi Stars and Akwa United, which has been rescheduled for 9 September.

Rangers and El-Kanemi Warriors kicked off the new season last weekend with the game ending goalless.

The revised schedule is aimed at allowing fans to support the Super Eagles, while also ensuring the NPFL season kicks off without any conflicts.
