NPFL: Pillars, Kwara soar as Enyimba, Lobi drop points at home
It was an interesting Wednesday evening across the nation as matchday 7 of the 202425 Nigeria Premier Football League produced some ecstatic results, Nigeriasoccernet.com writes.
It was an all-Ahmed Musa show in Enugu with the Super Eagles captain involved in four goals as Kano Pillars defeated reigning champions Enugu Rangers 4-3 in front of their fan at the Cathedral.
Musa won two penalties and provided an assist before scoring a goal himself as Pillars raced to a 4-0 lead going into the break. Rangers scored 3 in the second half to save themselves from what could've been an embarrassing evening at home. Although the champions eventually lost the game 4-3, the goals scored in the second half showed the fighting spirit in the team, something the fans can bank on going fully into the season.
In Aba, Ufere Chinedu Chukwu rescued a point for Enyimba against Niger Tornadoes. The strong attacking midfielder scored in the 76th minute to draw Enyimba level after they went down through Joseph Godstime's 42nd-minute goal for the visitors.
Anas Yusuf scored his second hattrick (56', 58', 70') of the season as Nasarawa United saw off Abia Warriors 3-0 in Lafia. Wasiu Alalade bagged a first-half brace (30', 38') to help Kwara United beat Sunshine Stars 3-0 at the Ilorin Township Stadium. Abduralheem Shola scored the 3rd goal for the Afonja Warriors in the 73rd minute.
It was another stalemate for Lobi Stars and El-Kanemi Warriors who played out a 2-all draw in Markurdi. Both teams who got a point from their last match last weekend ended up sharing the spoil once again as Daniel Amokachi continues the search for his first win as Lobi Stars manager.
