The 2022/2023 Nigeria Premier Football League, NPFL match day 5 fixtures begat another day of relief, pain and excitement after ten matches played across the country.

For teams like Rangers International of Enugu and Kwara United of Ilorin it was a sigh of relief as they both won their first matches of the season.

In fact, it was the first time the team from Ilorin would score after four matches.

Kwara United defeated Akwa United by two goals to one at the Lekan Salami Stadium, Ibadan.

Wasiu Alalade hit a volley at the edge of the box to score Kwara United's first goal of the season in the 20th minute before Cyril Olisema fired a brilliant strike off Ubong Friday's cross to level matters in the 69th minute for the visitors.

An Olanrewaju Hadi Mohammed’s goal in the half hour mark condemned Dakkada to a third straight defeat of the season, this time in the hands of Rangers.

Samuel Anakwe scored the fastest goal of the season with his 17 seconds strike as Remo Stars edged Enyimba to return to winning ways.

Ebube Duru scored a first half free-kick and a second half penalty to seal a convincing win for the defending champions Rivers United at home to Wikki Tourists.

Insurance of Benin continued their fine run after a one nil win over El Kanemi Warriors at the Maiduguri Stadium.

The Benin Gunners got a 1-0 win courtesy of a first half strike by Deputy Echeta to ensure the newly promoted remain unblemish since the start of the new season.

Joseph Atule kept his nerve to convert an injury time penalty and seal the maximum points for Lobi Stars against their opponent from Akure, Sunshine Stars. The win take them up to second, just one point behind Rivers United.

Yusuf Taiye’s brace was enough for Gombe United to inflict another loss on Shooting Stars of Ibadan. Ghali Falke’s goal for 3SC only proved to be a consolation.
