NPFL: Late goal saves Sporting Lagos' blushes against Bayelsa United
Sporting Lagos secured a point at home courtesy of a late goal by Aliu Salawudeen against Bayelsa United in the match day 15 encounter at the Onikan Stadium on Thursday, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.
Robert Mizo with his 10th goal of the season put the visitors ahead in the first half and it looked like the Prosperity Boys were heading for a vital win, but the Noise Lagosians equalled score against 10-man Bayelsa United.
With no clear cut chance, it was Bayelsa United that opened score through league top scorer, Mizo in the 24th minute.
United held till the second half on knowing fully well that a win would take them off the relegation zone.
However, Lawal Kehinde received a red card which reduced the visitors to 10 men, but they remained resolute till the 90th minute.
Salaudeen Aliu broke the hearts of the visiting fans as he stroke a fantastic equalizer at the final moments of this match.
Sporting Lagos after 14 matches are 14 on the log with 17 points while Bayelsa United are 19th with 14 points.
