Rivers United have moved to the top of the Nigeria Premier Football League following their first win away from home this season on Saturday, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.

They defeated Lobi Stars 1-0 at the Lafia City Stadium courtesy of a second half late goal from Kabir Abdullahi.

The Pride of Rivers went into the game basking from a 3-1 win over Heartland FC in Port Harcourt came into the game with much confidence to get a good result.

After a not too intensity in the first half with Lobi Stars edging it in display, it ended goalless.

The momentum continued for Lobi Stars, but they failed to use those opportunities well as substitute Kabir Abdullahi broke the deadlock for the visitors on 79 minute.

The goal proved enough to see the 2021 champions take all three points and leave Lobi Stars chasing fro their first win of the season.

Rivers United are top after three matches played with seven points while Lobi Stars who are fifteenth on the log have a point after playing two matches.
